I wonder if the rest of Dr. Young's passage comes from there, or if he was mixing translations.

Thanks for the research and information! Obviously you're not the only KJV fan, even if I don't like it because I prefer the Bible to be accessible, and most people I know can't follow KJV very well. But as long as you can understand it, it's all good. I need to remind myself of that more. :)Julie Bihnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16694252260205949341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6017008788024248921.post-61105013318675538322014-12-17T22:07:25.502-08:002014-12-17T22:07:25.502-08:00Wow, Audrey; now you almost have me thinking that ...Wow, Audrey; now you almost have me thinking that sparkly vampires are better than Dracula vampires. I was simply not worried and therefore not draw into the story by plot tension. On my part, I put it down as a genre/save the world trope, so the suspense and the stakes worked a lot better for me. But I know what you mean about details like that spoiling a story--I still refuse to believe Dracula, since a vampire (should one exist) couldn't possible steal a Christian's soul, so obviously the author was mixed up somewhere!Audreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17789169075914830074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6017008788024248921.post-661894367239310262014-12-16T18:12:00.386-08:002014-12-16T18:12:00.386-08:00OK, what is very interesting is that "'So...OK, what is very interesting is that "'So the Lord God took the man that He had made and put him in His Garden of Delight, to cultivate and tend it" which Dr. Young quoted is ONLY located in The Fatal Tree; it's not actually any known Bible translation I can find online. Did the genius Dr. Young create his own? The rest of his quote is more or less from the more modern KJV (not 1611), with different punctuation.

Interesting stuff!Julie Bihnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16694252260205949341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6017008788024248921.post-25810093374365980152014-12-16T18:01:39.485-08:002014-12-16T18:01:39.485-08:00I hadn't thought about it that way, Jainene; y...I hadn't thought about it that way, Jainene; you could be right! It was masterful. Good point about the Skin Map. I almost forgot about it in this book! Perhaps the very concept of the Skin Map itself was part of the "sin" of misusing the Spirit Well? One man, having all this power and knowledge, and ultimately not choosing wisely. To me the story was never so much about saving the world as it was about discovering it--discovering truth. The whole thing unfolded as a journey and I enjoyed it on that score.

About the Bible translations, though: it was the KJV they quoted, right? Up until maybe about sixty years ago, pretty much the whole English-speaking world would have used that translation alone. So having multiple characters quote from it is actually very realistic for these characters in their historical settings.Rachel Starr Thomsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01115239312232415130noreply@blogger.com
