I'm glad it finally posted, ...Excellent review. I'm glad it finally posted, Julie. I agree that we've come to expect close third person or even first person points of view these days. I wondered if that was the reason I didn't feel as close to Jack. But I connected with Elina and George, so I'm thinking that wasn't it as much as the other things you mentioned. He seemed to make light of his responsibility until later in the novel. And maybe that was realistic since they were essentially running for their lives most of the time.
